Goa Government today launched Goa Yuva Sanchar Yojana Scheme for providing limited free talktime and Internet data to the youth in the state.
The scheme will provide 100 minutes talk time and 3 GB Internet data free with a SIM card (every month) for youths aged between 16-30 years government has tied up with Vodafone for the scheme which is expected to benefit nearly 1.25 lakh youth. Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the government has made a provision to discontinue with the scheme if a beneficiary is found to be misusing it.
The Digital India initiative is a flagship programme of the Modi Government that seeks to transform the country into a digitally-empowered society and knowledge economy. Launched in July last year, the programme aims to provide a much-needed thrust to areas like broadband highways, universal access to mobile connectivity, public Internet access programme and e-Governance.
The scheme would specifically be more useful to the rural youth who today is out of the digital India paradigm due to non availability of internet access. It will also help the youth to connect with the peers across the state and countries and increase their knowledge base in terms of education, carrier opportunities and skill development.
How to Apply for Goa Yuva Sanchar Yojana
Applicant may apply for the scheme, in the prescribed form (available at Retailer outlets), complete in all respects, along with one passport size photographs and self attested copy of the following documents:
1. Aadhar Card.
2.Age proof:
Any one of the following documents showing proof of age between 16-30 years, EPIC Card/ Driving Licence/ Birth Certificate/ Passport/ School Leaving Certificate.
3. Five years residence proof:
EPIC Card/ Driving Licence/ Passport issued before 31st Mar 2011/ Bonafide Certificate issued by school/college that shows schooling in Goa for the last 5 years OR Residence Certificate showing 5 years residence in Goa.
Eligibility
Any youth who fulfils all of the following conditions are eligible to apply:
The youth who attains the age of 16 years on or after 1st April 2016 or who is less than equal to 30 years as on Date of registration minus 6 months, may apply for the scheme.
Resident of Goa for the last five years.
