Hyderabad Police on Wednesday filed a case against the makers of upcoming Malayalam film, Oru Adaar Love for hurting religious sentiments of Muslims with their song, Manikya Malaraya Poovi, which turned Priya Prakash Varrier into an overnight sensation.
Mohammed Abdul Muqeeth Khan and some other Muslim youths have filed a complaint against the makers claiming that the song has ‘objectionable references’ to a love story between Prophet Mohammad and his wife Khadijah Bivi. The makers have been booked under section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
Although the complainants don’t understand the lyrics, when they looked up for the English translation of the viral song, they found it objectionable. Cop are investigating the matter but the film’s director, Omar Lulu says that there is nothing objectionable in the song.
